Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit’ 18 – As it was already announced, Covet Group is responsible for the organization of the very first edition of Luxury Design & Craftmanship Summit. The event will begin on the 20th of June and will end on the 21st in Oporto.
Luxury Design & Craftmanship Summit’ 18 is one of the few events in the world that puts together the creative minds, designers, makers, and brands to discuss what’s the future of the Luxury design world. This event’s objective is to give you a new insight and the most innovative practices in both the luxury and the design industries, these being the biggest influences on the growth of craftsmanship. Oporto, being the center stage to the event, is highly renowned for its craftsmanship heritage. The two-day event will present the visitors with an incredible line-up of keynote speakers, in order to provide a lively debate for those who are interested to be in the frontlines of the luxury design field!
The opening event will take place at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Gondomar, which was designed by the Pritzker winner, Siza Vieira. This event, on the 20th of June, will consist of a live showcase by master artisans of azulejo, wood and other ancient crafts! The first panel is dedicated to The Value of Craftmanship for the Luxury World, this panel will show real case studies that explain the meaning of exclusivity and authenticity. On this first day the event will be closed by Gondomar’s Mayor, Marco Martins with a Port of Honor.
The second day, 21st June, will consist of two panels, Design as driving force for Local Craftmanship, a more detailed and closer look into the growth of the Designer-Maker, a journey from previous times towards a new cultural progress, to promote creativity and innovation, while respecting traditions and securing heritage.
The last panel, Luxury Branding: the behind scenes story will discuss the relationship between the heritage techniques and how to use them for the most recent marketing campaigns of leading luxury business brands.
During the event, craftsmanship will be shown and discussed with a new approach and dimension, reflection of the dynamic and digital world where craftsmanship is an important tool for design brands and other arts.

Michelangelo Foundation, an international non-profit entity that maintains the master craftsmanship tradition and strengthens its connection to the world of design.
Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva, a foundation created with the objective of protecting the Portuguese Decorative Arts and the handicrafts related to them.
Luís Onofre, designer of luxury shoes and accessories and President of APICCAP
Vista Alegre, the oldest porcelain factory in the Iberian Peninsula.
Topázio, Portuguese company with more than 140 years of history, expert in the creation and production of unique designed hand-carved silver.
Boca do Lobo, Portuguese brand of furniture-art design recognized for its unique and innovative and hand-worked designs.
This event is made in association with the Thinkers & Makers Foundation, whose mission is to celebrate and honor the craftsmanship and every person who creates soulful pieces with their own hands.
According to the organization, “A unique new Summit dedicated to exploring the increasingly crucial nexus between luxury and craftsmanship as essential components to inject a new verve into the design world.”
