If you want to find writers, painters, composers and political figures, Saint-Germain-des-Prés is the right area to explore. Among Café de Flore, Café Deux Magots and Brasserie Lipp, you’ll find the hotspot of Parisian intellectual and cultural life. The buildings here exhale history and share an intimate aesthetic.
Gérard Faivre chose to create this luxury escape. Back to 1880, the apartment’s original grandeur is kept intact, with the interiors now spreading a sophisticated glamour. It’s not a secret that Faivre seeks perfection with an eye for detail, and he has balanced the textures and materials with strokes of vintage and touches of colour, reinventing the elegant spaces.
“What interested me was to keep the remnants of the past, for example the entry: marble and inlaid woodwork mirrors; I wanted to capture the era of the building,” he tolds. “Here I created a bold piece of work, inspired by the past. One can find emblematic colour shades from that era: oranges, greens, blues and the shades of gold that symbolized wealth and luxury”, adds.
The original 19th century-era doors now separate the bedroom and library, enhancing the uniqueness of this apartment and bearing witness to the past, their tint faded with time gone by. In the lounge and dining area, Gérard intertwines his favourite materials (marble, fabric, brass, and wood of different variety) and accentuates them with contemporary art works.
With its perfectly matched decorations and furniture, it’s a stylish space for entertaining.
