For Monique Gibson, the design is about personality. It is about listening to her clients and learning—and enabling them to discover—how they want to live. Her incredible body of work and talent made it possible for her to decorate the house of stars such as Elton John, Meg Ryan, and Jon Bon Jovi. Her studio is based in Manhattan since 2001.

Perfectly centered on New York’s east-west axis, the duplex takes in panoramic views from the East River to the Hudson and, on clear days, sightlines north all the way to Central Park. As Monique Gibson says, “this apartment had the best view of the city I had ever seen.”, adding “I know it sounds crazy, but even though we were 800 feet up in the sky, I also felt grounded.”.
The apartment was easily sold to a family that fell in love with the view in the first place. But they knew it was missing something. There is when Gibson work comes in. They choose the amazing designer because some of her previous work with unique rough-edged glamour, which featured a soulful combination of industrial vintage fixtures, Art Deco furniture, and sumptuous beige upholstery, along with a fearless abundance of glossy black finishes.
The challenge for the designer was to translate the feeling of artistic urbanity—more naturally suited to an old loft building with exposed brick walls and exposed pipes—to a classically inspired newly constructed high-rise.

With a fluidity resembling the organic shapes of the finest whipped cream over a hot and delicious latte, the Crème Sofa has a distinctive wavy and continuous design.
