Even if you’re not intoweb or tv shows, it’s quite impossible not to have heard one thing or two about Netflix’s production that follows the life of the biggest drug lord in History – Pablo Escobar. In the beginning of the month, Narcos’ second season came out and delighted every spectator who was missing Colombia landscapes or DEA and drug cartels scenarios. Explore here the second season filming set!
Season two ofNetflix‘s Narcos brings viewers back to La Catedral, the private prison Pablo Escobar built for himself as part of a deal with the Colombian government. Production designer Salvador Parra was brought on to capture the look of the chaotic period for the new episodes.
The aftermath of Escobar’s escape is evident throughout the set, including the bullet holes that pock the wall behind his desk.
Season two brings a lot new challenges for DEA agents Steve Murphy and Javier Peña, with a change in American leadership in Colombia, including a new ambassador.
The president’s office in Casa de Nariño offers a striking contrast to Escobar’s hideouts and the streets of Medellín.
Murphy and Peña focus their attention on operations in Medellín, working with Coronel Carrillo and the Search Bloc unit to hunt Escobar.
“I wanted to create every kind of lab,” says Parra, who developed a range of cocaine labs for the season. “We were chasing Pablo Escobar all the time; the conditions of the labs have to be different and become more desperate.”
Escobar’s hideouts also become more dismal. “For the last house, we covered all the walls with our textures, and we added different windows,” Parra says. “We gave the audience a feel of loneliness in his desperate moments.”
