South Beach in Miami was reborn in Art Deco. Now Miami Beach’s Art Deco District is the first 20th-century neighborhood with 800 structures of historical significance, most built between 1923 and 1943. After the vicious hurricane of September 1926, which utterly razed the city, wrought havoc, Miami Beach saw a building boom that lasted the better part of 20 years. Today modern home architecture focused on modern buildings in Miami, which may be attended while coming for Maison&Objet Americas.

The Delano is a place everyone has to pay attention to. This is one of the spots where the sheer coolness of old school Miami Beach continues to live and breathe. The rooftop lounge area offers a wonderfully refreshing perspective that’s far from the flatland ground-level view that’s so easy to become accustomed to when looking around South Beach.

This building was constructed by starchitect Bjarke Ingels’ first South Florida commission. The two twisting towers of Grove are well under way at Grand Bay. The towers twist to ‘maximize views of the waterfront’. In 2015, the buildings will be ready for occupancy, gleaming like a new helix stack of gleaming cards that’s been twisted ever so slightly.

Webster is one of the master architects behind the urban landscape of South Beach. Its ornate plaques and perfectly symmetrical shape, filled with neon and bearing a straightforward geometric composition, are essentially archetypical of Miami’s iteration of the Art Deco style. This former hotel has been re-envisioned as a high-end fashion boutique.
